

Course Description:
The Nursing Assistant Training Re-Certification Program is designed to re-train individuals whose prior BNAT/CNA certification has expired. The program prepares individuals to deliver direct client care, in long-term care facilities, home healthcare settings, clinics, doctor’s offices and hospitals, under the direction of a registered nurse. The course of study provides the opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills used by nursing assistants. Clinical training for all students will be held at participating healthcare facilities.
After successful completion of the program, graduates will receive a certificate of completion and will be eligible to sit for the Illinois state exam. NUR 101 meets the requirements and guidelines set by the State of Illinois Department of Public Health for Basic Nurse Assistant Training Programs.
Course Details:
- The J´Reneé BNAT/CNA Re-Certification program is a 16-
hour course involving 8 hours of supervised classroom/lab
time and 8 hours of supervised clinical experience.
- Daytime and evening classes are scheduled. Contact the Admissions Office for the latest schedule and to register.
- Applicants must have been active CNAs previously to apply for recertification.

- Upon enrollment in the program, all students will undergo a criminal background check and must submit health and immunization records as required by the Illinois Department of Public Health. All students will also be required to have a drug test. Students will receive the required forms for completing these tasks at the first day of class.
- To participate in a clinical setting, students will need to have white shoes and a watch with a second hand.

Tuition:
Contact the Admissions Office for the current program tuition. Tuition includes: course materials, uniform with school patch, name tag, lab supplies, supervised clinical, CPR certification, state testing preparation and testing fee, career counseling and job placement assistance. A down payment is required to enroll in the program. Students may participate in a payment plan at no additional costs or finance charges. See also Financial Assistance for funding options.
Enrollment:
To enroll in BNAT/CNA Re-Certification, make an appointment to visit our campus Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to speak with an Admissions Specialist. All students applying for admission must complete an interview with the program director and or faculty committee. The interview is designed to answer the applicant’s questions and help determine the applicant's motivation toward and understanding of the roles within the nursing profession. Admission status is determined after the interview.
A one-time student application must be submitted to enroll in any J´Reneé program. The application fee is $35. Payments are accepted in cash, check or credit card. Students may complete their applications in advance by utilizing the link below, or they may be completed on campus during their admissions appointment.
